Default Too hot for freezer in garage?

Right now we have a second freezer in our basement. If we don't find a house with a basement in Chapel Hill will we be able to keep the freezer in the garage or will it get too hot in there? If it can't be kept in the garage where do people keep their second freezer if they need one? I don't want to give up my freezer.

We had no problem with our fridge and freezer in the garage while it was warm but over winter when the temp dropped low in there the compressor stopped working. Se were told that they won't work in temps below 40.

I have a feeling that a lot of people in MA keep freezers in the garage up here and the temps get well below 40. I'll have to do some research.

When I went lookign at homes this past summer I saw tons of places with extra freezers and fridges in their garage. I don't think you will have a problem.

I've always had a freezer in the garage. Some people keep an extra fridge out there for the kids box drinks (yhea! Seems to be alot of extra beer out there too)!

If you do have a freezer out there, make sure you have a dedicated circuit.

Never had a problem with ours. We thought about the basement, but the garage is just easier to access.

Phew. I am so glad it won't be a problem as I need it to stock up on Trader Joe's goodies once they open the CH store. I can't live without my second freezer.

Ours is in the garage. Never had any problems with heat. My parents always had one in the garage in IL and had no problems with the cold or heat.
