Default Dayton Woods dev. in S Raleigh

Has anyone heard anything good or bad about these homes. I went and looked at them today and they were 2000+ Sq Ft, with just under a acre of land for 215, that is with all the extras. How is the area and the school district? It was located just south off of Ten Ten Rd and just east of 401. Thanks!

They might have a Raleigh address but I don't think this area is really in Raleigh. Is the zip 27603? That zip is listed as Raleigh but it's really in Garner, and that particular area was annexed by Raleigh.

I'm not familar with the school district, someone else will have to advise you on that... Do the homes have city/county water or is it septic/well?

You are correct they are not within the city limits of Raleigh. They have septic/well water. The development looked beautiful and had gorgeous lots. With all the redistricting of the schools, I do not know where to begin. Schools report cards really do not impress me. I was a school teacher and I know that just because a school has high test scores, does not always mean it is the best school, especially if you as a parent are working at home with your child. I am not sure of the zip code, we saw so many places in such a short period of time, but this one seemed to really stand out.

If it's in Wake County, it's Wake County schools. Zip codes don't tell the full story when it comes to schools down here as they can cover more then one county and on top of that, the Wake County school district tries to balance each school with a variety of economic levels so students will be from a variety of zip codes anyway.

If you want to know which individual school a specific address is assigned to you can look at http://wwwgis2.wcpss.net/cgi-bin/Pro...ion=StreetMain

These homes are nestled in a beautiful subdivision. The area is growing FAST! I hear the elementary school that the neighborhood is districted to is fairly new. With all of the redistricting and year-round hype/controversy lately, it is very difficult to tell year to year what schools this neighborhood will be assigned to. Anyway, my husband and I are about to buy a home in the neighborhood and love it! Nice, country feeling, but still not far from Garner, Cary, downtown Raleigh, etc.

We live a very short distance from Dayton Woods. Be very careful of this area. It is off of Fanney(I have to misspell it or it edits it for profanity...isn't that funny?!) Brown Road and that road between Banks Road and Old Stage Rd is NASTY and poverty stricken. There are older, small houses, junk cars and tractor trailers, a double wide park, a goat farmer that advertises in Spanish. I hear sirens constantly, not sure why...The front, earliest part of Dayton Woods was built by a different builder and the houses are very nice looking. We live in a Comfort Homes house. I won't be buying another one...ever. The schools in this area are in complete upheaval. Vance Elementary School is now year round. North Garner is on the edge of Southeast Raleigh poverty and that is where a lot of those kids get sent. It is now year round. East Garner is your traditional calendar option for most of the 27603 area. Garner High School is a sad choice compared to most other Wake County high schools. It is overcrowded and this next year they will be doing a Freshmen academy separate from the rest of the high school. There will be a new elementary school opening on Banks Road in two years so you have a good chance of getting redistricted sooner rather than later.

I do agree that when going down F. Brown Road, the area around Banks is pretty shady looking. The goat selling is funny! I don't like the looks of it, but know that eventually it will get built up and bought out like everything else. They're actually going to be building a Super Target near the new Harris Teater, so the area itself is really building up. The development down F. Brown Road is quite obvious. Half a million dollar houses further up (with still some lingering trailers and small old houses)...it will just take some time to make its way down. That's really any country road in NC for you...
As for the issues with the school, we don't have kids yet and don't plan on it for awhile, but the info about the schools is helpful. I do remember reading that Vance has turned year round.
Do you live in Stephen's Point? If you don't mind, message me privately about your concerns with Comfort Homes. They've been nothing but helpful and cooperative with us during this process. I'm wondering if you could tell me the other side to the story!

Default growth

It is because of growth. Just look at the bank pointe subdivision on banks rd. 650-2milliom dollar homes. The area will get better as it is built up. You cant move into a growing area, get a good deal on a home and not have some tailers and such still hanging around.
