I really like Snyder-Hankins also. They do build quality homes. Not to say the others don't, but I happen to like his plans.

You don't have this one listed, but I highly recommend On Top Builders. The builder is a husband and wife team. We purchased a house of theirs in smithfield and during our inspection, the inspector said it was some of the best work he had ever seen and he would be out of job if everyone built with the same quality.

Also the builder was present during the inspection, and what few things we needed to have fixed were fixed while we were still there. The homes are considered "custom" and he really has an amazing attention to detail. And his wife is just a peach!

I hope you will consider them for your home building needs!

The Wake County Parade of Homes is coming up in about a month. I'd suggest visiting homes built by the builders that you're considering. Many times the owners and/or their construction managers are present in the homes during the parade. Over the years we've met many of them and gained quite a few insights into how they build homes. Most are passionate about what they do and engaging them with relatively simple questions or compliments about specific items will get a conversation going !
We spent maybe an hour talking to one of the principals in Snyder-Hankins last year in one of their homes. My takeaway was that they invested a lot of time and effort in getting their subs to do work the way they wanted it done and they were determined to keep those folks working for them in the downturn. Not surprising to me that a guy concerned about quality and his workers turns out a good house.

Snyder-Hankins built my house 7 years ago, and I have been very happy with the results. Good quality construction and easy to work with.
