Smithfield to Raleigh- how far?
Can someone please tell me how far Smithfield is from Raleigh NC? I may move to Raleigh to work in Smithfield schools.

It depends where in Raleigh you will be. Google Maps can help you out.

You may want to consider living in Clayton if you are working in Smithfield.

Thank you for your response, but will I like Clayton, being I'm single female around 40. Would Garner be better to live in? You know with things to do? I really prefer Raleigh but I don't want to have a long and/or horrific drive to Smithfield.

From downtown Raleigh to Smithfield is about 45 minutes.
From North Raleigh to Smithfield is about 1 hour.

Clayton is like 30 minutes...much less traffic...I drive from Eastern Wake to Smithfield schools...40 minutes or so depending on how fast I drive.

any of the surrounding cities of raleigh or raleigh aren't a difficult commute. Clayton's like 20-30 minutes, Garner is 30-45, and Raleigh is 45-1 hr 15.

Personally, I've not felt good about Smithfield since the early 70's when they had that big billboard that proudly proclaimed that "THIS IS KLAN COUNTRY" with the crossed flags, one the confederate, the other the U.S. Of course, this neck of the woods is sadly in need of education.

Because right now any job is a good job? I'd say move to Raleigh, deal with the commute for a year or two, and then try to get into a school that's closer. I'm also a single female and wouldn't be happy in Garner, Clayton, etc. Pretty areas, but not for me.
