Exclamation H1N1 In Wendell Middle School

My daughter has contracted the dreaded Swine. Every Day I keep asking her to make sure she washes her hands at school and uses the hand sanitizer I gave her. She says yes mom, I'm washing them. But kids keep coughing all over her at school. Then after I picked her up from the sports bus last night she looked really bad. Took her tempature and almost fell over when it read 104.5.

You would think the coach could have obviously seen she was in distress. Took her right in to the pediatrician and she has tested positive for H1N1. She goes to Wendell Middle and I am sure she is not the only one. No one else in the house is sick, but the doctor said there is a 3-5 day incubation period. he also said they can no longer give a prescription to the rest of the family for Tamiflu. We have to wait until we get it to get the Tamiflu.

I've been sanitizing everything in the house today and just thought I would let others know in case you have kids going to Wendell middle.

Thanks for the "heads up" and I sure hope your daughter feels better soon. My daughter is in HS and I keep telling her the SAME THING...wash your hands and then wash your hands AGAIN! We just got back from dinner and I noticed she and her friend were sharing their drinks!!! How many times am I going to tell her to be careful?

By the way, I'm going to be showing homes that have Wendell Middle as the middle school. How do you feel about the school?

Vicki

Hope your daughter gets well soon. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the news media is scaring people to believe it is. A buddy of mine tested positive for the swine flu. He said he had the same symptoms of the regular flu but they were no where near as intense. He actually felt like he got off easy this year hoping he doesn't catch the regular flu. He repeatedly said the swine flu is an absolute joke. As long as he took Aleve he could hardly tell he was sick.

Thanks Vicki,

We love the school. It wasn't our assigned school but we requested it back in Feb. It's beautiful, and it's brand new. The Principal is great, easy to talk to, very genuine lady. Coaches are really nice, but, I am surprised they didn't notice my kid with a 104 fever.

Another plus is the lunch line, they don't spend 3/4 of lunch period waiting in line. It moves quickly, so I'm told anyway.

Thanks, As soon as the ibuprofen wears off this fever jumps right back to 104 I keep switching every 3-4 hours between Tylenol and Ibuprofen for this wicked fever.

Your friend must be a strong guy with a really good immune system. My poor kid is wiped out.

Hope your daughter is well soon. There have been cases at our elementary school, but so far it hasn't hit any of the kids too hard. The docs say it's better to get it now than in a few months when the strain is tougher. So hopefully your daughter has gotten it out of the way.

I've been sending a water bottle to school every day w/ my kids. I tell them to not drink from the drinking fountains. Do you remember high school biology and the swab off the water fountain in the petri dish experiment? YUCK!!!

EEWWW. Yes, I remember. Yuck is right. Doctor said once the fever breaks she should be feeling much better. I hope her brain doesn't start to fry.

lazylulu is on a distinguished road
I have several friends, not in this area, who have had the swine flu and they said it was nothing like the regular flu and they wanted to die. These people are not prone to over exaggeration so I am taking them at their word. I really hope I don't get it.
