So I've done all the on-line research I could think of (e.g. wcpss.net, greatschools etc). I've visited the schools to meet some of the administration, poke around the buildings and get a "sense" of the school.

I'm still short in terms of relevant first hand information.

Can anyone provide information on Baileywick Road Elementary and/or West Millbrook Middle School from a personal perspective?

I know all schools can provide both good and bad experiences. I know that test scores tell only a very small part of the story. I'm just looking for input from people who have recently had or currently have children in either of those schools.

I offer as an example that our current high school is ranked quite high in state and national rankings, sends a fair number of students on to prestigious universities, generates oodles of scholarship funded students in both sports and academics and yet has a drug problem that far exceeds a parents worst nightmare. Or that our current elementary school is average in terms of state testing but has a very active PTA which encourages parents to get involved and work with the teachers.

We really liked everything we've seen and read about, by the way. We're just trying to conduct as complete a due diligence exercise as possible.

Try Googling those schools and searching for them in Yahoo Groups.

Try calling up the local newspapers for those schools to find out what articles have been written on those schools and children in those areas.

If you sincerely check out the private schools in those area or close to those arears, then you can very easily inquire about how they compare to those schools academically, extra-curricularily, and so on. You never know.

The best advice I can give you is to have your child try out a day in the school or at least go and visit it in person (announced once and unannounced once or twice). Some schools will not allow unannounced visitors not even parents come into the building past the Office ---- not even being excorted (sp) with the principal or a security guard. Period.

I wish you lots of luck in finding the school that best fits your child(ren).
