Looking for Campground with yearly rates
When I lived in New Hampshire I had a camper that stayed in the campground year round for around $3000/yr. and I could go up whenever I wanted. They allowed us to build 3 season rooms onto the camper (yea with lumber), and even fence some of the campsite for my dogs. Anything like that within an hour or two of Raleigh?
Thanks

What's the dif between what you describe and a trailer park? Down here we have trailer parks, same thing?

You can purchase a piece of land for a camper in Lake Royale in Louisburg for that price. They have wooded sites and all the amenities. (lake, pool, clubhouse) Then, all you'll have to pay is the dues at about $500/yr.
Here's a link to it:
Lake Royale POA
Scroll down the page and see my link and it has some nice pics.

I think I saw an ad for a trailer that had rooms built on -- it was year round campground, and it may have been Kerr Lake.

pallison74, I currently live at Lake Royale that beckycat mentioned. Let me know if you have any questions. It's about 45 minutes from Raleigh. We've been using it as a weekend getaway place, but are living there full time for now, until I find a job in Raleigh and sell my house in Greenville, NC.
People do build over/around trailers. Dues are just under $600/yr. for now and camping lots (which allow year-round campers; we live in the residential section in a stick-built home) go for $2 - $5k or so.

Beckycat and Emelvee-
I went and visited the area and it looks very nice. Very much what I was looking for. I am only concerned about the POA. 1st, I was reading in the past news letters about a lot of fines handed out, and I am worried about whether they are nickle and dimeing the residents to death with fees. This is on top op the yearly dues which seem kind of excessive. I am not so worried about $550, but is it going to be $1000 in 5-10 years? I also noticed in the crime log a lot of calls to the police regarding animal complaints. Dogs bark some times, especially if someone else's dogs are barking, calling the cops about it is kinda ridiculus, unless it is very excessive. Makes me wonder how friendly everyone really is

I don't know about fines. I have heard about some crime on the campsite side, but from what I found out this was a while back and they cleaned it up. It was due to vacant campers and ppl breaking into them. They have their own cop in there. Also, I was worried about the HOA and them raising it so I called about it. They said when it gets raised annually, it's minimal so don't worry about a large increase. I checked into it b/c I was thinking about buying there. The complaint maybe about ppl who tie their dogs outside all the time. Of course a dog will bark constantly if left out all the time.
emelvee: I have a question for you. Do you know if anybody has any vacation rentals in there? I'm looking to rent for a week to get a feel of the place.
Thanks!
