There is a house down the road from us that has a whole bunch of huge palm trees growing around it! It looks completely out of place against the backdrop of fir trees, but they keep a super nice yard so who am I to complain!

I think palm trees are W O N D E R F U L.

Our growing seasons now mimic South Carolina's, so I hope we see lots of palm trees in the future.

I never thought for a minute that anyone would think they were out of place.

Apart from the Home Depot and Lowes which carry one or maybe two palm trees in the entire store. Where can you buy palm (palmetto) trees at a reasonable price? Do any of the local nurseries carry these?

So, if you move from FL, you can bring a little something with you. It's nice to know and I had no clue.

Atlantic spa and pool on Glenwood has 3 in the front yard, not sure the kind but they have survived for the last 2 years. We also saw a house in N. Raleigh with palm trees in the front.

Default Pullen Park

If my memory severs me correctly, there is a park in or very close to downtown Raleigh called Pullen Park. There are quite a few Windmill Palms there. Most of the palm trees youll see in the Triangle / Raleigh area are Windmills. Sabal Palmettos (Cabbage Palmettos), the kind you see in the Virginia Beach area, southward along /near the coastal areas of NC, are not quite cold hardy enough to survive long term in the Raleigh area. Im sure you could get one to live for a year, maybe 2 or 3, but I doubt their long term viability there. If I can find the photos I took while at Pullen Park back in 2003 I will definitely post them here.
