Hey there...as I was scouring the mls, I was thinking about casting a wider net and looking at townhomes. We have a dog, so we would have to have a fenced back yard to live in such a setting. I've seen tons with little 8x10 fenced patios or decks...I'm thinking more along the lines of a larger fenced backyard with grass where the pup could kick it during the day. Of course, it would be necessary to find a place that allows pets. I've found one like that, but the location was not good for us. Also, a garage would be ideal. So I'm thinking 1200+ square feet, garage, and fenced space for under $165K in North Raleigh. Any tips? A townhome would be a huge adjustment for us, but finding something like that would make it doable I think. Thanks!

I don't know of any specifically....but what is your price range? There are some upper end town homes in Heritage (Wake Forest) that have small yards, but I don't know if they are fence-able.

We're looking up to the upper 160s to the lower 170s.

JS,
I'm sure there is something out there for you. I did a quick search and found many in your price range with a garage. I included NE Raleigh, which is east of Capitol Blvd, down to New Bern, and includes Hedingham. The fencing is not there, but if the price is right, you may be able to install the fence, if the community allows fences. That is the type of information I help clients confirm. |

JS,
I am in the same boat. One thing I have noticed is that new TH developments have associations managed by the builder. Many of the builders I have checked with do not allow fenced in yards at first (I think due to maintenane of the yards, etc., during the selling phase), however after the community is built out, they turn over the management of the association to the homeowners who can then change their convenants. Just be sure to ask about this if you are looking at new communities. You might better luck looking into TH communities that are at least 2+ years old. |
