Mr. Toads Coffee Roasters on High House Rd. in Cary is very good. I was just visting my cousin there and will be moving in the area within the year. I went there for a cup of coffee at 6AM and have to say that there coffee is much better than Starsucks.

There's a great place in Churton Grove in Hillsborough. They use Counter Culture beans which are roasted in Durham

Pete's coffee and...?
Have you tried Boca Java on line. I find them to be top shelf. I like them better than Pete's for most of their popular grinds. I remember Starbuck in Moby Dick loved his coffee so strong it could make the pupils jitter like a pin ball.

Mr. Toads sounds fabulous. I've heard of a place in Washington State; they and taste a small portion of each batch before serving; the dark brew must meet their highest approval before serving customers. There just aren't many places that care that much about the coffee they serve.

Here is a second vote for Mr. Toad's. They have great coffee and great atmosphere. I've been enjoying their coffee for more than 2 years.

Have you tried Cafe Driade in Chapel Hill? I am a huge coffee freak and enjoy "good" coffee and have found the coffee there to be very good...I have tried Peet's coffee back in Boston but it did not stand out to me...The best coffee I've ever had by far was Blue Mountain coffee of Jamaica...I have tried several other here in the Triangle (Caribou in Cary & Chapel Hill, Francescas in Durham, Blue coffee Co in Durham & Chapel Hill, Elios in Raleigh, Open Eye in Chapel Hill, Bean Traders in Durham) and all are worth visiting depending if you're in the mood for a quick boost or in the mood to sit and relax...
