I second the rec for Caffe Driade.

But it isn't the sort of place where you can just run in for a cup & run out again. It is a place to linger.

I've also heard good things about 3 Cups (on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill), and Blue Coffee Co. (in downtown Durham).

Here's a list of coffee shops in the Triangle.

If you're interested in making your coffee at home, A Southern Season in Chapel Hill has a fabulous selection of beans.

Very true. I must admit I go to Caribou Coffee when I just want to grab a cup on the go.

where do you live? I can't imagine you'd drive from Raleigh to Chapel Hill over a cup of coffee.

Best Durham options: Broad Street Cafe, Alivia's, Bean Traders.

I'm a sucker for Caribou, too.

I'll second Bean Trader's in Durham. I also tend to frequent Foster's in Durham for coffee as well as the Wellspring cafe in Whole Foods.

The coffee out here sucks. Starbucks sucks but at least they are consistently mediocre. When they get a Pete's coffee out here then there will be good coffee.
