we liked the kbhome martha stewart community (townhomes @ westport) but we think it's way overpriced, for instance $15000 dollar premium for a corner inventory town home is a rip-off , please advise or comment based on your experiences.

Also what is the base price to upgrades ratio (typicall how many % that someone would choose on top of the base price) in a typical kb town home ?

Anyone has recenly bought .. any insights , ratings, advantages and disadvantages will be helpful as we are first time home buyer and don't want to overlook anything and go wrong ?

First time home buyer here!

We actually did look at the KB homes in Clayton...toured all three models, fell in love with it, until we realized what we just toured was ALL UPGRADES...the sales person pretty much dodged our questions about how much, then I found out on here that KB grades can be as expensive as $50,000 and up.
No thank you.

We then toured through Anderson homes.
What KB homes considers an "upgrade" actually comes standard in an Anderson home.
We made a list of all the benefits of an Anderson home (Energy efficent which means we would save 30% on our electric bill every month-and its true!), lawn service, six month/one year inspections, excellent customer service, the floor plan we desired, beautiful neighborhood, etc.

We pretty much did this FOR ALL the houses we toured. We did a "pro/cons" list and our Anderson home won.

I also HIGHLY recommend as a first time home buyer buying the book 'First time home buyer for dummies".
Easy to read, makes sense and will help you with every little detail!

Good luck to you!
