Chocolate dipped bacon (aka pig lickers) was my first treat at the fair last night, and way better than the name!

Gonna need to make some of that at home, but I think I'll experiment with dark chocolate and different crispness of bacon or country ham. Mike, let me know if you and S want a batch!

For those wondering, it IS very much like a chocolate covered pretzel, but more chewey. And believe it or not, this item has received a lot of coverage on the food networks over the past year, in high brow restaurants, not as "pig lickers" (I shudder at the name) at your local fair.

Other must tries at the fair: the honey cotton candy and fried apple slices.

Bon appetite!

I plan on making a batch of pig lickers for holiday gifts. I'm going to use milk chocolate since dark chocolate can be temperamental. I just finished off my honey cotton candy.

My new favorite item was the apple dumplings. Delicious!!

We thought we liked the milk chocolate as the sweet played off well against the salty finish.

Not something I would eat in volume while watching the Canes, but certainly intriguing to split 4 slices between two of us as a novelty snack.

There must be a couple of stands, Mike. The one I tried was on a stick and covered in dark chocolate. Bacon was nice and crisp.

Apparently. It surely woould be an easy item to knock off.
Bacon. Chocolate. Optional Stick.

We went to Pig Lickers, in the Commerce Building, next to the Recipes Contest Judging area.

When I'm in the mood for salt & chocolate I'll stick with chocolate covered pretzels.

Maybe next year you adventurous types can report back on the Fried Butter!
