Hi everyone,

I am a single 28 year old woman that is looking for a change. Grew up in a small town and have never left! I have heard many good things about Raleigh, but have a few questions before I take a trip down...

What are the good areas closest to downtown that would be fun, eclectic and affordable to live, and how much??

Also, when I move I am expecting to continue working as a server/bartender and I was just curious about the tipping situation down there. I understand it depends on the place, but whats the average server make in a day? Are people cheap? I know thats a hard one...

Are there alot of fun things to do there? IE dance classes, bookstores, festivals, shopping areas etc..

Am I right that there is no public transportation like a subway or bus??

Any other advise or good/bad reasons for a young lady to move to Raleigh would be very helpful... Thanks!!

Default Come on down...

There's plenty to do here. You should come for a visit and stay near downtown. See Downtown Raleigh :: You R Here for a sample of things going on there, but there's plenty of other stuff as well. Regarding server/bartender jobs -- its like everywhere else -- what you can make depends on where you work and how you do it.

Come in next weekend for raleigh wide open. Raleigh Wide Open 4 - Celebrating the Opening of City Plaza, Raleigh, NC - October 24, 2009
