I went to six string last night to see one of my favorite bluegrass bands perform. Unfortunatly the soundman at the Cafe was 100% inept and ruined the entire evening.
-The beginning of the show was fine, a singer/songwriter opened the show and sounded wonderful, but when the main group took the stage the soundman readjusted the sound system in a manner that could not have been worse if it were deliberate.... or was it?
-The sound system was continually squealing with feedback.
-The banjo was totally overbearing and drowned out all the rest of the instruments and vocals.
-The Bass could not be heard at all.... in spite of the bass player making repeated requests from the stage to have the sound adjusted.
-The vocals started out fine, but after 1 or 2 songs he readjusted the vocals leaving an overbearing reverb and turning off all the trebel and turning up the bass....
-The fiddle and mandolin where barely audible, even during solo breaks... and after the first couple songs, all of the instruments had reverb on them.
I have heard this band perform at numerous venues and their sound has always been crisp and clean... I have also attended numerous concerts at Six String and have always been favorably impressed by the sound quality.
If this is how Six String is treating their performers and their listeners in their "post David Sardinjas" incarnation I will be loathe to attend any future shows at that venue.
