Default Moving to Pinehurst with baby help!!

My husband and I are in the military and just got relocated to Fort Bragg, from what we have been told Pinehurst was a great area to live in so we rented a home, but now im a little worried that we just booked ourselves into a retirement community. Does anyone know what it is like to live here with a young family? or is it all retired people.

I lived there for several years. Yes, LOTS of older people. Many people who live there refer to it as "God's Waiting Room". Beautiful area though and its the jackpot if you're a golfer. Southern Pines might be an option for you. More younger families there.

dixiebell,
Relax! Yes, lots of retirees in Pinehurst. But, lots of young families moving in also. I have 2 granddaughters who live across the street from us. Lots of activities, parks, sports, hiking, fishing, movies, bowling, in-line skating, etc. In other words - not just

God's waiting room. Excellent health facilities, very very little crime, good schools, low tax rate, and on and on.
Try looking on the NC Forum for more postings on Pinehurst/Southern Pines/Aberdeen areas.

I must admit, Pinehurst would be just about the LAST town in NC I would recommend to a young couple in your situation. Just curious: what made you pick there, in the first place?
