At the RRC there is the general joining fee plus a quarterly membership fee. The club is about 45 years old. Back in the year 2000 there was an assessment because the "Courthouse" had been poorly managed. In essence, to keep the club running each family had to pay $1500 or so. Last month, the Board voted on another assessment due at the end of this quarter. $2000 for each family + a possible additional assessment to replace "the bubble". The bubble is the temporary structure put up in the winter to cover 4 outdoor courts during the winter months. That could end up being another $2000.
well, that's discouraging. If that is the case looks like we'll be looking at alternate facilties. We remember visiting a very nice facility that had a few pools "tennis and swim club" off of Creedmoor? would you happen to know the name?
That would be Seven Oaks. Its part of the Stonehenge neighborhood. About a mile down the road off Sawmill is Greystone Pool.
Seven Oaks may not take new people due to the crowdedness. I'm not sure how that works if you buy in Stonehenge. Since they added the extra pools, alot of people switched from Greystone.
We belonged to Greystone for about 15 years. Finally quit since daughter went only 4 times last year! Greystone is very lonely...only one pool and tennis and volleyball but so many people left, at one point they only charged $450 to join for the summer, no initiation fee.

North Hills is also a good option. Check out this link (http://www.raleightennis.com/Directions.htm - broken link) for area courts too
Hi Saluki_Lover, I am involved at the Raleigh Racquet Club. The actual assessment ended up coming down to $1,200.00 and we are sorry to see you go Tracy. If you are looking for the top tennis players club in the area it won't get any better than the RRC. To compare us to local clubs in terms of excessive amounts of members and cost we are a good value. Our capacity is around 600 members and we are now sitting on about 450 members. I know that currently North Hills Club and Seven Oaks both have waiting lists. Seven Oaks is a cheap option but they don't have indoor facilities as well as clay courts and they are also WAY over crowded. The North Hills Club is expensive, their initiation fee is over $8,000.00 and they do not offer year round indoor facilities. At the RRC our iniation fee is $1,100 and the quarterly dues are $466 for an entire family. If you have any specific questions about the club feel free to ask.
