I was out enjoying the beautiful country side of Hwy 42 and 22 and was seeking the Devil's Tramping Ground, and i am surprise that there was no historical marker since it one of this states oldest legends.
Devilstrampingground.com

I pulled off at this turn out and saw what look like a fire pit and took pics
but I hope this isnt correct.
Im trying to find it on google earth but the gps coordinates will help.
before the turn out was a gravel road with very rought to ride over rocks but it was near a bunch of trees with posted signs I mean every tree and it look like ATV trails

+35° 35' 3.54", -79° 29' 13.26" (35.584317, -79.487017) @35.584317,-79.487017

directions:
The Devil's Tramping Ground is approximately 50 miles south of Greensboro. It is not easy to find and be prepared for mild hiking, rural driving, and super-natural phenomenon.

Take 421 South Approximately 38 miles.
Turn Right onto State Route 902 Follow For about 7 Miles.
Turn Left of Devil's Tromping Grounds Rd. (Not Marked) Follow for 1.7 miles.

You should see a gravel pull off on the left. The Devil's Tramping Ground is about 150 feet down the dirt path.

I use to hear about it as a kid, and I have read up on it and It is one of those things I got to go experience.
Thanks for providing the coordinates.
Knowing my luck I might see it on the 31st.

For what it's worth, your photos definitely match the photo that accompanies the Devil's Tramping Ground article on Wikipedia.

Default Scared me!

I went there with a friend, we got directions from locals. It was a beautiful sunny day. The area is basically a circle of bare ground on private land, and it was unmarked. Nothing that special. Waste of time, I figured. Then I walked to the circle, and picked up a handful of dirt. Out of nowhere, right there immediately overhead, the loudest boom of thunder ever -- on a perfectly clear beautiful day! I was shaking and said "Let's get out of here!" (which we did in a hurry)
