Anniversary Dinner.....Suggestions, Please
My wife and I are celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary tomorrow. I've been in the Triangle for almost 30 years now, and know most of the traditional Triangle restaurants for celebrations such as The Angus Barn and Ruth's Chris.
Do any of you have any suggestions in the $100.00 +/- range? We tend toward good beef or Italian, but am open to other fare.
We are somewhat out of the loop regarding better restaurants since my 14 & 15 year old sons have eaten up most of our time and money for celebrations like this.
Thanks,
Streamer

Bin54 is absolutely fantastic. The food is great (best steak I've ever had anywhere ever) and the atmosphere is very good too -more intimate and quieter than those big places you mentiond.
Another nice choice is Metro 8 on 9th Street in Durham. I had a chance to dine there recently and it was very nice - both in terms of food an atmosphere. Wife and I spent just under $100 before tip, including a couple of glasses of wine each.
In Chapel Hill are several other nice places - Elaine's on West Franklin Street is very nice. And there's Lantern, and Crook's Corner, and 411 West Italian Cafe and ....
Also in Durham, Nana's is a tremendous place for an intimate "date" dinner.

Happy anniversary!! Mr. Cstleddy and my anniversary is coming up next month and I think we'll go to Savoy, an Open Table favorite. http://www.restaurantsavoy.com/.
I love, love, love CHTransplant's list and would add Magnolia Grill in Durham http://www.magnoliagrill.net/. Bonne Soiree in Chapel Hill as well, although I've not been there but have heard many good things about it and I think it was featured in the N&O over the weekend.
Not necessarily Italian or steaks, but just really good food for Foodies.

I would suggest Sullivan's Restaurant in Raleigh and ask for the 'library'. I also like Second Empire. Happy Anniversary and kudos for thinking ahead.

St. Jacques
I strongly recommend St. Jacques. Great French food at a reasonable price. Call and let them know it is an anniversary dinner. Bon Appetit! Logman
