Most of the fitness and training staff has resigned or being let go. Most of the classes have been canceled until further notice. They just declared Chapter 11. Members please be aware, probably a good idea to put your membership on hold.

They are still open. The payroll has bounced for the past 3 weeks. I cancelled my membership.

Yet another reason I'm a happy YMCA member. They're about as stable as they come.

Thats disapointing, but it was a very disapointing gym. I joined with a 1 year contract solely on the basis of the kids activities that they said they did for older kids in the childcare facility. The brochure said that they would get to use the gym equipment like the balance beams and vaults and play basketball and dodgeball and use the pool. All they ever did was jump on the trampoline one at a time for about 10 seconds, then stand in line for half an hour waiting to be led back to the childcare room. They also said that they had a room for kids to do homework and had a tutor there to help them - but this was not true at all. Almost all the parents I talked to eventually quit thier membership because the disinterested teenagers they had running the youth activities program couldn't be bothered to do any youth activities! All the other gyms just have a room for toddlers that older kids really don't want to be caught dead in, so Impact really had a great concept, they just never executed it.

Default Impact going under

Sadly, earlier in the year we were suckered into signing up for a "legacy member" deal that involved some up front money in exchange for low monthly fees long term. I wasn't there for the sales pitch but IIRC they indicated they were raising funds for a building project. I'm just learning of the Ch. 11, but I'm wondering if a criminal investigation isn't warranted - it sure feels like fraud.
