Good, Cheap furniture stores in the area?
We just moved here and are in desperate need of some couches. We don't want to spend a lot of $$$ but we want to get something nice. Any suggestions for where to go shop?
Are there any furniture outlets in the area?

I had good luck with Home Comfort Furniture - bought a recliner and bedroom set for what I consider to be a good price. Not anything fancy but is holding up just fine.

How about second hand furniture? Is there an Upscale Resale or really good furniture consignment place?

I think most people find Craigslist the best source of secondhand furniture. You can get furniture at all quality levels.

I've been to almost every furniture store in the area and I found the cheapest prices to be at Ashley Furniture. They have some really good deals and it's decent furniture for the money.

There is also Transit Damaged Freight in Cary (High House and Old Apex Rd). Good prices, new arrivals all the time. A wide variety of brands from Basset, Broyhill, Thomasville etc. Much of what arrives is in perfect condition and NOT damaged. We bought a gorgeous high end solid wood bedroom set, perfect condition for about 1/2 of what we saw it elsewhere for.

I assume you don't want to go to High Point to buy new furniture? I mention that because you said you just moved here. The furniture stores sometimes have huge sales to clear out overstock and make way for new. I have bought some nice things there. It makes for a fun daytrip if you're into furniture and home furnishings. My other favorite furniture place around her is Whitley Galleries in Zebulon. They have nice stuff, not cheap, but they will match High Point prices. And they may have sales...
That said, for used furniture, have you thought about consignment shops? There is one on Chatham in Cary which I posted about yesterday on another thread (I am not affiliated with them). They have some nice stuff and also have a "wish list" if you are looking for something in particular. Here's their weblink. Consigning Design
We just had a house full of furniture we needed to dispose of, and after speaking with estate dealers, etc., we decided to sell it via Craigslist. Boy, did the buyers get some good deals!!!! Looking at CL takes constant perusing because it's extremely active, but you might just find what you're looking for.

I just moved here and found a furniture store in Rolesville (?). Nothing fabulous about the store but did have good prices.

Yesterday I saw a commercial for a chaise sectional at Jennifer Convertible for $399 that I am going to check out today. You can go to Jennifer Convertibles - Sofa Beds Specialist - Jennifer & Friends Sofabeds and they have couches, chairs, beds, dining room tables, etc on sale. Check out the circular and the current promotions. I read mixed reviews online. My best friend bought a nice coach from there last year and she has only good things to say.
I have been checking out Craigslist and I went to some furniture stores on Hillsborough Rd in Raleigh, 15-501 in Durham, and Corts Furniture (used) in Raleigh. For second hand furniture I also checked out Habitat for Humanity and the Durham Rescue Mission, but they were all either too used or the good stuff was already sale.
I went to Transit Damaged Freight off High House in Cary and the prices were still kind of high for me. I think maybe it's the area, but a store in Lexington NC had beautiful pieces for 1/2 the price.

Get high quality furniture to begin with. (and some can be found on Craigslist but you have t grab it!)In the long run you will save money because you might replace something (such as a cheaply made sofa) Well made furniture can be recovered as well as the frame & cushions having good lasting support. It is better to have a few high quality peices than a room full of "junk" that looks great but is made poorly! Just my two cents.
