Default Current Info on Brentwood Elementary?

We went to the Magnet School Fair today and were interested in finding our more about Brentwood Elementary. I've read 50/50 posts on here about the Brentwood neighborhood, but would love to know some current info about the school. It just became an engineering magnet this year. Anyone have kids or know friends' kids who go there? Would like some input on teachers, administration, and, of course, the student body (any disciplinary problems, etc.?).

Thanks in advance!

I asked the question for you on our neighborhood discussion list. I'll let you know if I hear anything. (The neighborhood list is small.)

Brentwood used to be great (school of distinction, teacher of the year, etc.), then a very short time ago, it wasn't so great as far as grades, and so there is hope that making it a magnet school will make it great once again.

I think one contributing factor to the overall lower scores was children who were brought in from other areas who didn't speak English as their first language.

Magnet schools have been wildly popular, and there is no doubt that Brentwood Elementary will also be wildly popular once the magnet program is underway.

As far as crime, the Brentwood subdivision hasn't had any more increase in crime than anywhere else in the city according to the police lieutenant who until recently was responsible for this area.

There are some really bad rental homes and apartment complexes on New Hope Church Rd that some folks associate with nearby Brentwood.

The area is diverse.

The o.p. asked about Brentwood elementary and I'm just merely explaining about some of the clientele that lives in the Brentwood community. If I remember correctly the apt. complex is actually named "Brentwood East" and is addressed on Brentwood Rd. so I'm not sure why that's not considered to be a part of the Brentwood community.

It's not part of the Brentwood subdivision.

Default P.s.

North Shore subdivision is across the street from Brentwood subdivision on New Hope Church Road, and they're not part of the Brentwood subdivision either.

Yes, as I mentioned in my OP, I am aware that there are some issues in the Brentwood area. I was hoping more for info from parents who may have their kids signed up at Brentwood Elementary this year for the engineering magnet program. Would love feedback about it.

Thanks for the responses.
