Hello,
My Daughter is turning 1 in January and we are trying to find different options where we can celebrate her birthday. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

I think Marbles would be a great choice, especially if you are inviting children of varying ages.

As a father of three, let me recommend home. The one-year-old won't appreciate any 'fun' venues, and it's a lot more expensive both in terms of money and sanity. That's the beauty of a one year old's birthday party -- you don't need to do anything fancy.

Whatever you do, stay away from Chuck E Cheese. It's the seventh circle of hell. In particularly, if you've got a child who isn't begging begging begging to go there (and I imagine your one-year-old doesn't know what it is), then don't have it there. I was at one yesterday, for the first birthday party I'd attended at one in three years, and it was worse than I remembered.

Your house would be the best bet...a place where she feels comfortable

Chuck E. Cheese is quite disturbing. An extra-strength Excedrin before you go is recommended.

Home is best.

Yeah I'll second (or third, or forth...) that advice. Paying for a party venue for a one year old is a waste unless you've got a ton of people coming. And honestly, I can't think of one place around here that would be appropriate for a one year old to have a party at. Most are geared towards at least two year olds, closer to three and up.

My daughter's birthday is in January also. Since it is usually cold, it is difficult to have outdoor parties but the zoo is a great place for a child's birthday party.

My first child slept completely through his first birthday. Thankfully it was at home. My second child didn't care where he was. He was just busy having a good time seeing familiar faces.

My son had his 4th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese and he loved it. The kids ran wild and had a good time. We didn't do it at a busy time. The adults and kids played video games, and they had a descent salad bar. It wasn't dirty, but it was loud. A little too much for a 1 year old.

I wanted to 2nd Marbles for older kids. That place is awesome!

My son is turning one in December. We'll be having a party at our house. He's not going to care where he is at this age. He'll be happier just being around people. For his second birthday, who knows? I'm sure it'll get a lot more interesting from here on out.
