Hello! I must start off by saying I absolutely love city-data. I must be on here at least twice a week if not more =) You all have been super helpful in answering people's questions, so I feel like maybe it's my time to ask.

My husband might *Fingers crossed* get a job offer in the 27610 area (North of the 440 and just south of New Bern Ave/64 if that helps). I have heard mixed reviews that this area isn't the greatest, but would like some locals to clarify.

I know I'm jumping the gun by asking since he hasn't been officially given the job, but I LOVE to do research on stuff like this..therefore, here I am =) Any information would be greatly appreciated. Work would not be an issue for me, I can work from home.

So we need a safe area to potentially buy in, with a quick commute for the hubby. (also, we're a young couple in our 20s looking to start a family, so family-friendly would be great). If offer is accepted, we would be relocating from AZ, but would definitely fly out to check out the area for ourselves.

Thanks so much in advance!

Brentwood
Belvidere Park
Townhomes in Yarborough Park, new construction, low $200,000's
Mordecai
Longview Gardens
College Heights

But, really, the Beltline, I-440, and US-64 open up tons of diverse housing opportunities within 10-15 easy driving minutes.

There are some great areas in 27610, I'm a happy resident. I'd second Longview Gardens if you have the budget for it. Closer to me, the north eastern most tip inside the beltline in neighborhoods like Rollingwood and Westchester are more modestly priced family neighborhoods.

There are some good neighborhoods nr 64/New Bern and in Knightdale such as Planters Walk. What are you looking forrent/buy, house vs t/house, land - how much, and budget range. I'm happy to help if needed, have lived in the 27610 zip for a few yrs. We have some rural areas here and some semi urban. If you want the city life, downtown is 20 mins rush hr drive.
