Default Goldsboro to Clayton

Thanks for all your postings. I was almost ready to turn away from a potential wonderful opportunity and then I stumbled across these threads. I would be working in Goldsboro and living in clayon

Default Wake County to Johnston County

When I moved here 2years ago I was going to move to Wake County as well and decided on Johnston County because of the school system. I spoke with many people and they all said they are better here mainly because of the bussing issues and overcrowding. It was a good choice and Clayton is growing but they are building new schools and at the right pace. My son went to a new Middle school this year and it has been great. I am the parent liason for the School Improvement so let me know if you move here and have middle schoolers. Good Luck!

Default Wake or Johnston

Well just so you know your Realtor should not be steering you in any way it is against Commission rules. Johnston County has better schools in my opinion.

I hear this alot. The only thing I figure is some realtors don't know much about JCo, especially all the new/good stuff going on. So they fall back on what they know.

True. I always wondered how a realtor could cover the entire Triangle area. We always opted for realtors that lived in/near the area we were interested in. We had several realtors vying (sp?) for our business when we first moved here but we wanted to neighborhood check on our own. Once we found an area we liked (Clayton) we chose a realtor who works out of Clayton and lives nearby....a local! It was the best choice for us and can't imagine doing it any other way. Especially since other realtors WERE trying to steer us away from Clayton (and in my guess, closer to the areas they know better).

Lauren

Default Clayton is really nice

I am a relocate from Wake county to Johnston and I am pleased with that decision. Our work commute is the same because instead of having to weave through the roads from Fuquay to Cary, now we just hop on I40 and the commute time is the same. We were surprised. We like Johnston county and Clayton is a nice area with good families coming into the area. We got a bigger house on a bigger lot for about 50K less than had we stayed over in Wake county.

That is SO nice to hear.
How long is your commute now? Do you have any kids in the schools?

Default Clayton

Our commute to the Cary/Raleigh border from our driveway is exactly 27 minutes. Almost all highway. It took us about the same time to get from Fuquay to the same spot in Cary/Raleigh using back roads and traffic lights. Some people consider Johnston county too far out to commute into the Raleigh Cary area but the vast majority of the people in our subdivsion commute into Raleigh or Cary and seem fine with it. Clayton particularly is a nice area because you have easy access to I40 and also the new 70 bypass will be done this summer. We have one daighter in West Clayton Elem and have been pleased with it. All of our neighbors seem to echo that opinion as well. Building will continue in Clayton and NC 42 is to be a particular hotspot for future development. A well planned community including a hospital, restaurants, new housing, offices, etc. are scheduled for development over the next several years. Property values here will most certainly increase. My husband found a neighborhood called Hannah's Creek that we liked (after we already bought in Austin Pond). I've been advertising this to all of my friends currently looking for houses because I think it is going to be in a great spot. It's tucked back a bit and still in development, but it's going to be close to the bypass and the hosptial/emergency center and all the future development on 42. it will likely be one of the few subdivisions in that area in which you can find large custom homes on large lots (.5 acre to over an acre). It's quiet, but close to everything.

Hey everyone....its been about a month since I've posted....still sitting here in Long Island...(hmmmmm)

We also found Hannah's Creek during our trip and I actually mentioned it here on one of my posts......they offer large homes w/flat larger properties....nice layouts, screened porches w/pvc railings and lots of amenities...at if I remember right was actually priced low compared to other comprable homes we had looked at.....

We just weren't sure if we wanted to be on that side of 42....but the s/d looked like just want we wanted other than location.....we're coming back down in a couple of months....(husbands work issues are dragging out much longer than expected) go figure!

I've been keeping track of the homes we were interested in and would like to look at again and prices seem to have dropped anywheres from $10k to $30k plus on inventory homes.......

We really loved Pineville East but we are so used to having a pool of our own I worry that the community pool may wind up being a hassel....Since only one of my boys would be old enough to use the pool on his own.... We would have to take the other two all the time which I could see turning into an issue....and I do love the convenience on being able to walk out my back door at any time for a dip.....

Can anyone give me s/d's that you know for a fact where you can have your own pools....that isnt (farm land) sorry not to offend anyone....I just want to be in an area that if need the kids could ride bikes to friends and not be secluded due to the s/d being far out.....

We also never got to see Creeks at Millstone.....the homes look like what we want on nice size props.....Is this sub further back ( i think its near covered bridge)? not sure if the sub is sitting by itself or not.....

any help is appreciated......thanks in advance

-Suzanne
