I just came from Tom Robinson's Fish Market in Carrboro. I was going to go to Earp's in Raleigh but I called and they said they were out of Mussles and Clams. Since I'm making a spaghetti frutti di mare (seafood spaghetti dish), I need both mussles and clams, so I decided to go to Tom's instead of a grocery store (wanted to check out the fresh fishmongers).
The place is quite small. The sign on the door said open Thursdays and Fridays, so don't try to go on any other day. Tom, the owner, was there and helped me personally. He was very helpful and seemed to know his stuff. The prices were also reasonable, especially for being in Carrboro.
This is probably not the time to get fresh shrimp, so that's probably why the shrimp and scallops looked like they'd been previously frozen. The rest of the fish (Grouper and Snapper especially) looked very fresh.
All in all, a good experience and I'll definitely be back.
