They have a pdf you can download on attracting bats. Also check out:
http://www.batmanagement.com/Batcent...osingsite.html

I grew up w/ bats flying around at night eatting bugs. We totally loved it as kids. Get your kiddos some good bat books from the library and they will be sold. Stellaluna and Bats at the Beach are good fiction bat stories. My kids love seeing the bats at the zoo. They can't wait until they have some in their own backyard.

Thank you for those links! I think bats are fascinating I hope I can lure some to our yard. Stellaluna is such a sweet story.

I've also been working the bird angle, hoping that attracting them will lower the mosquito population as well.

yes--skin so soft from avon works for me every time. they even sell it now with the spray pump. dont water it down, as it is also used for bath water. just directly from the bottle to your skin. smells nice, but bigs hate it

Default mosquito control

if any of you guys have an irrigation system at your home you could try Skeet-R-Gone( Skeet-R-Gone Mosquito Killing Concentrate Injection Device for Lawn Sprinkler Systems - Fargo, North Dakota) they are being sold all over the country my aunt had one installed and said its a night and day difference.

I don't understand the bat house theory, being that you WANT to attract bats. Ok, I understand that they eat mosquitos but I sold a house that HAD bats. My buyer is a Health/PE teacher and she said that the bat droppings are TOXIC. So...if you attract the bats...what do you do about the droppings? I wouldn't want the dog or the kids to walk in THAT!

And Indigoblue...sorry but I can't resist this...you asked how to ATTRACT bats? I'd suggest...ACT BATTY!!!

Ok ok...I'm leaving shortly for another closing anyway!!!

Vicki

Mosquito Nix was over $4000 for the installation of the system (nozzles, tank, piping) then an additional $226 every 4-6 weeks to refill the tank. You can use Pyrethrum or an botanical geranium based spray. For the price of that over the years, I think I'll go with a screen porch and get a return on my investment.

Bats in YOUR house = bad.

Bats outside your house = good.

I've had it both ways. Though I've never installed a bat house.

They're seasonal and it also depends on the amount of recent rain. Citronella Candles work well, but I've come to love our screened in porch this time of year.
