Look at Ligon Middle School - it is an AG/GT magnet in Downtown (east) Raleigh.

My DD has three electives in the 8th grade. She takes french, band and has an elective for a free choice each quarter.

So, she is in the 8th grade and currently takes Geometry, NC History (SS), Science, English (AG), Band, French 2 & Mystery Literature (elective). It is an 8 period day - one period is divided into lunch and activity time. activity time is time you can re-take a quiz/test, see a teacher, go to the library or go outside or to the gym for social time. It is about 20 mins or so. I think each period is 40 or 45 mins.

In the past, her electives have included sketching, creative cuisine, aerobics, double dutch (skip roping), strength training, mysteries, greek myths, computer (keyboarding), photography 1, and more that I cannot remember.

Many of the middle schools here do have block scheduling (almost all of the ones I am familiar with do!). I didn't even know there were any left (that weren't magnet), that didn't follow block schedule!
