There's a great little shop downtown Raleigh on West Martin street. It's a consignment/antique shop. They have everything from vintage clothes, glassware, up to large furnitue pieces. It's my secret happy spot when I'm childless.

Selma, in Johnston county, has built up a reputation for its status as an "antique destination". There is a cluster of antique shops, and I believe there's even a website for the Selma antique stores.

Revival Antiques is my favorite. They have a spot out at the fairgrounds on the weekends (in the indoor section), but also have a huge warehouse off Capital Blvd.

...that's assuming you're looking for furniture/home decor.

I like the shops over in Five Points in Raleigh. When you tire of going through them, you can have lunch at NoFo.

You may need to define 'antique,' you know.

There are a number of consignment places, thrift stores, and the like, around here, too. I have found some cool 'vintage' items, but not necessarily true antiques.

We found Selma to have a lot of 1960s antiques...when did 1960 become antique?

Gresham Lake Antiques on Capital Boulevard past the 540 entrance. It closed and then reopened. I haven't been there since its new reopening.

If you shop around Five Points you can then head down Whitaker Mill to Hunt & Gather, then there are a couple of gift/consignment shops on Wake Forest Rd, then you could hit Revival Antiques (and Gresham Lake!) off Capital in one loop.
