I had TMJ 2 years ago. Could barely open my mouth to eat. I spent alot of money at a specialist (in Wilmington), had a very expensive mouth guard made and even discussed surgical options. The mouth guard did nothing. Six months later it resolved on its own (as I later found out alot of cases do).

YES!!!
I had TMJ about 4 years ago. I didn't get a mouth piece or do the dentist thing to get it resolved, a co-worker of mine recommended sport massage therapy. I found a place off of Blue Ridge Road (sorry, I can't remember the exact name, but its on the same street as Sunrise Dental..I think. Or the street next to it). Anyway, they do this massage technique on your jaw. I went for 2-3 months and I was HEALED. Never had it come back once! Highly recommend you give them a try.

Basically, just find a sports massage therapy place that specializes in TMJ.
Good luck!!

I highly recommend Dr. Yount, Raleigh Facial Pain Center, 4505 Fair Meadow Lane Suite 207 Raleigh, NC 27607 Phone: (919) 781-6600. I had problems nearly 10 years ago, they are very caring and really empower you to be proactive in dealing with TMJ.

I have had it for years, probably close to two decades...it sucks but you learn to live with it. Any chewy foods and my jaw pops every time it opens.

TMJ=temperomandibular joint. Everyone has 2. TMD is what you are referring to which is "TemperoMandibular Disorder", which could be one of many issues.

Dr. Yount as previously mentioned can definitely help.
