Not quite 100% true. If you have an NC drivers license, you can be called up for jury duty. I found jury duty to be an interesting experience to see first hand how our legal system operates in a court of law.

Jury duty wouldn't be so bad if you were used, and maybe had some more comfortable chairs or couch. Just sucks sitting in a room all day and no one being called in.

For the record, yall that are referring to me as pathethic, I have attended every jury duty and sometimes two years in a row without trying to get out of it. I am also sure that I do more for the community than most people in the community which would add to my civic responsibility.

They call you in for jury duty and have some kind of punishment if you don't go (whatever it is). I don't wait to be called, I do the homeless shelters with my family at Thanksgiving and the Holidays. Sponser tutorial sessions with schools for the upcoming EOG's every year and a few other small things, so don't look at me as a "pathetic" person b/c I don't like jury duty b/c of their lack of accomidations.

The idea that you can opt in or out of jury duty because the seats
are hard is what is pathetic. Take a cushion..

Next time they call you for jury duty , explain about the hard seats and how many other things you do for your community and see if that gets you excused.

So, folks -- just to remind everyone .....

The OP's question was simply what s/he should do after missing jury duty and not being able to reach someone on the phone. Let's please stay on that topic and not start sniping at each other about civic duty (or lack thereof), uncomfortable seats, or any other issues not directly related to what one should do after accidentally missing jury duty.

Thanks.

Original Poster here. Just to follow up, never did get a hold of anyone on the phone. Six weeks later I receive a letter from the Wake County Clerk of Superior Court informing me that I need to provide a reason to be excused or reschedule the date. Thanks for all the replies.
