Looks like a small fine, possibly

A jury summons is an official court summons, and failure to report as required could mean that the court could hold you in contempt and/or impose a $50 fine for not responding to a jury summons.

If it were just a $50 fine I would have just paid it and not shown up. People miss more than that by having to take the day off of work. I guess I know now.

That happened to me once here in NY - I was (shockingly) able to get someone on the phone and they jsut told me to come in the next day. It was no big deal.

Your other option is to just wait it out - most likely they will just send you another summons.

It is a civic responsibility unless you have a hardship situation.
If you were on trial would you want a "jury of your peers ??"
It is selfish to not serve unless you have a really good reason
that you cannot.

According to the Wake County government page concerning jury duty, you can be held in contempt of court and/or pay a fine of $50.

AOC FAQ

I suggest you start calling at 7:45 am and keep calling until someone comes in to answer the phone.

Get Vaseline and just take it.

Seriously, call up the court ASAP and just tell them what happened. Be sincere & humble, and most likely they will just reschedule you.
