Has anyone everyone purchased furniture from the triangle area furniture dealers listed on CL that you have to make an appointment to see the furniture, ie does not appear to be a actual retail facility but may be a whouse, etc.
No, but I have noticed that there is a poster on there a lot claiming " I bought this from Pottery Barn and it didn't fit my room, or I bought from Pottery Barn and changed my mind" Several people have put up posts that that person is running a scam.
Some local TV consumer reporter did a story on a woman buying bunk beds "on the Internet." The bunk beds were falling apart. I don't know if that was one of the dealers on Craigslist. Maybe.
I used a guy who had a business license and sold furniture out of his Apex home. I found him on Craigslist selling furniture and he told me that if I found any style I liked at a showroom, write down the company and model number (a phone camera picture if possible) and send it to him.
A couple of days after I emailed him, he replied back with comparable styles from vendors used by everyone else.
He had a flat rate of 9-13% (decreases with more money spent) commission over his total price.
There were some caveats, no warranty other than manufacturer (like most other stores), no extended warranty available, and have to wait for several order to come in before bulk delivery.
I could pick it up from his backyard warehouse/garage or he could have it delivered for additional cost.
