The local chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society does an annual Singing Valentine thing. The General Assembly Chorus: The Southeast's Premier Chorus (http://www.generalassemblychorus.org/Valentine_Order.html - broken link) A tuxedoed barbershop quartet will go sing 2 love songs to your sweetie and give her a card and a red rose from you.

As a V-day gift, I went to the courthouse and got a decorative Marriage License Certification and having it framed.

Personally, V-day is just another commercial revenue generator for businesses. But I have to please the wife. Actually, I think it is written on the Marriage License...

I'm hoping for tickets to Wicked at the DPAC and the promise of a child free evening out. Not holding my breath, but hoping nonetheless

I agree with Pharmboy. My husband and I don't do flowers or gifts or even dinner out on V-Day. We pretty much reject the commercialism tied to it. We prefer to enjoy an evening at home together.

Consider attending The No Hassle Valentines Ball benefitting The Arc of Wake County. No Hassle because all you need to do is bring your date... flowers, chocolate, dinner, drinks (open bar), dancing, music are all provided. There will be silent and live auctions, also. It's pricey ($170 a couple, I believe) but you are getting a lot AND giving alot!

Last year we ditrched the kids with grandma and grand dad and got a suite at the Embassy Suites in Cary. I LOVED IT. I hope my husband plans it again this year!

I would really like a nice dinner at a fine restaurant in Raleigh. I don't often get a chance to get dressed up anymore. I'm thinking about Solas--anyone been there for Valentine's day?
