I saw your post about moving to Clayton, our family is seriously looking into that area, now that you've been there awhile, do you still love it? Any suggestions for neighborhoods? We're hoping for 2500sq ft, need to stay under $300k, and would like at least a half an acre. My husband is a retired fire fighter and would be looking for a full time job, how are the job opportunities?

Thanks for your help

From first hand knowledge, stay out of Garner. It's gone downhill and crime keeps getting worse.

We absolutely love it in the Cleveland area, the schools have been great for us. Our neighbors are very friendly. Everything is very convenient for the most part, except decent Italian food LOL.

What kind of line of work is he looking for? RTP has been voted as one of the best places for employment. Of course, half of the country is looking to move here now because of that but still, there are alot of job opportunities in the area.

Just plan ahead in case you dont have a job when you move here.

2500 sq ft under 300K...how about 2800sq ft for around $200k?
Welcome to Clayton! Honestly, you really cant go wrong with any of the neighborhoods here. They all offer something different, you just have to find the one that suits you the best!

I agree! Mulberry on Main is sooooo good!!! Its in the downtown section of Clayton off of Main st. Definately worth checking out! The food is really good!

Default Clayton

Well, my family and I moved to Clayton from Wake county about 2 years ago and we have been very pleased. You have a small town feel that is growing and bringing good, solid families to the area. Schools that are good are West Clayton Elem., Cleveland Elem and Middle, Clayton Middle, West Johnston High School, East Clayton, Riverwood, and River Dell. Cooper Elem is the only one I've heard negatives about. Your housing requirements are totally doable. Options should be plentiful for you. From the $250- 300K range you could get a nice home with many custom upgraded features. A new one we've discovered is Hannah's Creek subdivision outside of Clayton city limits. It's new, tucked away in a nice quiet corner and not known yet to many people but still very close to whatever you want. Nice custom homes, good school district and near the new US70 bypass that is almost done as well as I 40. There is also going to be alot of development on the currently undeveloped part of NC highway 42 starting with a new hospital emergency center and housing, restaurants, businesses, etc. to follow in the next few years and property values are going nowhere but up. This neighborhood is in your price range and many homes feature additional unfinished space that can be finished later if so desired. Lots here range from .5 acres to over an acre. Give it a look.
