Am flying to MIA from RDU for 5 days and since it's an early flight, I'd love to drive up and get a hotel room.

Many hotels offer 'sleep park fly' packages where you can stay and just leave your car there....saving money on RDU parking.

Thing is....the ones I've looked at don't allow you to just book the hotel room at the normal rate. They require you book using the 'sleep park fly' rate that is 2 to 3 times more expensive....and so much so that it's actually cheaper to stay with the regular rate, and pay to park at RDU.

Am I missing something? Of course, if it were a 14 day trip it would save money...but for 5 it just doesn't.

What I wanted to do was fly up and stay the night before and when I return on my late flight, stay another night. The car would only be there 3 days- yet they'd get 2 hotel night stays from me.

Anyone have any ideas or know a place that doesn't jack their rates for someone staying to fly out...using the shuttle of course?

There are probably atleast a half dozen hotels near the airport. Most are on Airport Blvd. There is one Hilton Garden in on Aviation Pkwy. The hotels are pretty reasonably priced also.

RDU's website says that the park and ride lots are $6/day and the daily parking right across from the terminals is $10/day. That is pretty reasonable for airport parking.

Park here:Raleigh Coupon (http://www.fastparkandrelax.com/raleighcouponGWc.aspx?gclid=CNnI_pmNpJ8CFRednAodqy eMHg - broken link)

They have better rates than RDU, they pick you up at your car, you have covered parking, there is NO wait, and they even give you a newspaper before the flight, and water and a free carwash after.

It's cheaper than any inflated hotel rate, and the service is great.

I second BMateo. FastPark&Relax is wonderful. I use them all the time and they're only something like $3.64 per day - crazy cheap (compared to Los Angeles, where we used to live!).

I also recommend FastPark - as mentioned it is $3.64 a day + 10% RDU access fee so daily rate is $4 compared to $10 at RDU covered parking adjacent to the terminal. FastPark Shuttles run every 5 or 6 minutes and only 5 minutes to the terminal. $20 for covered parking with great service works for me
