Antiques Roadshow visited Raleigh back on June 27, 2009. They taped the episode from the new downtown Convention Center. I caught part of the episode on PBS the other night. For those who are interested, below are links to streaming videos of all two hours of the Raleigh episode
Gucci, this show appeals to people who like antiques, and surprises!
FYI it's one of PBS's most highly rated shows and tickets for the Raleigh event were so sought after that there were over 30,000 requests for 3600 pairs of tickets drawn in a lottery. Raleigh set a record for ticket requests. The show is so big that it can only be held in some of the largest civic center venues in the nation. It's been on for more than a decade and even longer in the UK where it originated.
It's a neat show! I did catch the episode where the lady's jade was valued over $1M...if that was me, I'd have been placing calls to sell the stuff before I left the bldg Jade, you're outta here! ha, ha!
I have it on DVR and haven't watched. I had tickets to go but my dog literally ate them the day before and I couldn't get replacements. I wanted to kill him...Still do!

Actually, they did sell the pieces shown on ARS I believe for almost 400,000 through Skinner's of Boston, well under the 1 mil mark....but the family had other pieces that sold for 3-4 hundred that weren't on the show so their grand total from dad's Chinese memorbilia was something like 850,00...not bad at all....
At first, I was dismayed to read here that Ms. Taylor sold the jade pieces, but then you know with something that valuable, how would you protect it and yourself? Especially after appearing on the PBS show? I imagine it would have made me feel vulnerable, and I would have sold it, too. I hope she has photos of the lovely things.
I was so disappointed to have not been able to land any tickets, and found out too late that if you donated (was it about $500?) to PBS during their fund-raising, you could have gotten tickets. My brother-in-law and I were interested in taking two items. Oh well, maybe next time!
I do think the Raleigh Show is divided into (3) one-hour segments. Hubby has been taping and saving them. The Antiques Roadshow here broke all sorts of records -- most sought-after tickets, highest valued item. . .
