Default How to find homes for rent in Chapel Hill/Carrboro?

I'm looking at moving from NY to Chapel Hill or Carroboro--I have a middle schooler and like the schools there--and would like to rent a home. I would consider a townhouse or apartment, too, but would prefer a home if at all possible. I'm willing to go up to about $2800 a month for the right place, although paying less would not be bad. I've searched Craigslist and Google, but I have a feeling there are other resources that I haven't tried. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thank you very much!

yes, the local paper is full of ads or google rental management companies as most houses for rent are owned by out of towners using property managers.

That's helpful. I'll check it out. Can you suggest the name of a local paper I should look at?

You can find a rental house in the Chapel Hill school district (depending of course on the exact location and what your specific needs are) for less than $2,800 a month.

Craigslist has quite a few. Most Craigslist ads are legit, but there are plenty of scams there, so caveat emptor.

Realtor.com has 37 rental listings from $1250--$2800/month in and around Chapel Hill, by Chapel Hill Zip Codes.
Might be a good place to start. Should be safer than Craigslist

Thanks! And thank you for the warning about Craigslist. I've heard of scams on that website, but I would have completely overlooked the possibility.

I have been a fan of hotpads.com lately. The interface is pretty user friendly.
