Is anyone familiar with the Weston Estates neighborhood of Cary/Morrisville. I'm wondering what the neighborhood is like, level of residents, comunity feel. Are these young families with kids or older adults? Professionals? Can anyone elaborate on the public school options in this neighborhood?

many thanks,
Stephen

Weston Estates has very nice homes (5- 10 yr old) on large lots in a very convenient location, close to 1-40, Airport and RTP.
There are some young families there, but I didnt see a whole lot of people walking, or kids playing outside whenever I have visited.
The school assignments are not great unless you apply to Magnet schools, or opt for private schools.
Plane noise also maybe an issue and some lots are very close to the Apartments on Chapel Hill Rd, and the Train Tracks.

We knew someone who considered Weston Oaks. They decided on Highcroft because of the schools. Their understanding was that many of the Weston Oaks residents with young children sent their kids to private school (i.e., most people that spend that much on a house wouldn't send their children to Northwoods).

I would choose Weston Estates (there are variations of the same name for other areas in Weston so watch the nomenclature) over Highcroft. Highcroft is getting an interstate shortly, the lots are smaller and the community pool is further from most homes. In Weston, the pool is closer to more homes. Both areas are full of professionals and families of varying ages.
