anyone notice as off late, this store is going downhill?I've been shopping there for years, but the last year it seems the meat shelves are routinely semi bare, produce is sub par to the other stores in area, and the store in general just seems to suffering. Also,a huge turnover in empoyee's,and managers.I never see the same face twice, kinda like great clips.Thoughts?

Neighbor bought meat there not too long ago and when he opened the plastic it was rank. He's elderly so had me come over and "smell of it". I barely got in his front door before the smell hit me.

He refrigerated it as soon as he got it and went to use it within three hours of that. Sell by date was three days away. Anyhow, I drove him back, made the poor guy hang it out the window and they apologized, exchanged it and started pulling all the rest of the ground beef, with that sell date, off the shelf immediately.

Haven't been back since.

We used to shop there many years ago before the Wakefield stores were built, but don't really go over there any more except to Shish Kabob once in a while. Sorry to hear it's gone downhill.

There is a new Lowes on the corner of Jones Dairy Rd & the 98 bypass. Maybe that store is siphonin goff their better staff. And they do have lots of other new competition as the other posters mentioned. I just don't get why they do this- the stores just end up cannibalizing each other.
Is there REALLY enough business for all these supermarkets?
The weakest will close, and the shopping centers they anchor will go into a swift decline.
Ugh.

I have the same opinion of that Lowes and rarely go there any more.

Hope the new Harris Teeter at Purnell is better than the new one off Capital near Wakefield. We always go to the one on Falls and Durrant even though it is farther. The one at Wakefield always seems to be out of everything we want.

It sure is a nice store, but seems quite expensive. Food Lion and Kroger seem to have better prices, and we often shop at Target for food and stuff as well.

I've started going to the Lowe's food near Heritage. Yes... the other had started to decline. I changed mostly because my favorite deli person moved to the nearer WF store. (Tamara is awesome!) I had bought expired stuff, by accident, at the other store. Yes, they took it back and the manager was very nice about it. Still - it sort of bothered me.

I miss them, though. Some of the people that work at that store are so nice and sweet. It seems like a real family there.
