I have a table lamp with a broken dimmer type switch. I'm new around here, and the only place I can find in the yellow pages to repair lamps is The Shade Tree in Raleigh. Looks like the right kind of place, but is there a place closer to West Cary? (Or maybe this Shade Tree place is closer than I think?) Has anyone been to Shade Tree before?

Thanks for any suggestions

Are you talking about the teeny twisty knob or one of the attachments that are stuck onto the middle of the cord? If either of those they are both easy to replace. I would take it to your helpful hardware store and see what the friendliest sales person you can find will tell you.

I installed a switch on a lamp once and it was a matter of clipping it into the line and securing it.

Really, I would try that little ditty myself (unplugged, of course!) Electrifying inquiry! = o

Editing to add this DIY link -How to install a lamp dimmer switch. This is the same way I did it... Boy, I love the internet!

I believe the shade Tree is actually pretty close to Cary. It's in that weird no man's land between Raleigh and Cary on Western Boulevard (if I am thinking of the right place). Shouldn't be more than 15 minutes or so from west Cary.
