I recently posted a thread and there was mention of Alston Regional Mixed use center. Several people came forward with various thoughts on what the status was for this project...ranging from developer bankruptcy to cancelation of the project...to you name it.

To help us all, I decided to contact the Urban Designer/Senior Planner for Cary's Planning Department. Please see her response below...The short take seems to be that some of it is underway and other parts are not moving at all due to what appears to be Developer related inertia.

The sketch plan (kind of like a master plan) for Parkside Town Commons was approved a couple years ago. The Phase I construction plans that have been approved include some internal roadways, the residential building, and some retail square footage. We have not heard from this developer, Kite Realty, recently, so I'm not sure what the next step for this project is. The Alston Town Center project is still in review; it has been tied up in a lawsuit for the past few years. I'm not sure what's next for this one either. As the economy picks up, I hope we hear from both of these development groups on next steps for these projects.
