I just bought a chair from RTG on glenwood and I wanted to save the $50 delivery fee by picking it up myself but the salesman said their pickup location is in Charlotte. It's hard for me to believe this, but I didn't argue with the guy and paid the $50 anyway. delivery is scheduled for 1/30

Anyone know if they really don't have a local pickup facility, or did the salesman pull a fast one on me to get my $50? Thanks!

I read a review from 2007 on another site, and the reviewer said the furniture came from their warehouse in Charlotte.

I've had mixed experience with Rooms2Go. We love our leather couches. We also bought a set of standard suede-like couches, and I requested no stain-resistant spray, because I knew the $75 fee was a ripoff. I once witnessed the spraying done at another furniture store, and I know it's about 60 seconds of nonse. They had a fit and didn't want to remove the $75 fee, but I insisted.

When we received the couches, they were damaged. I can't help but think it had something to do with not agreeing with the $75 fee. They sent replacements, and one of them was damaged. They finally got it right on the third try.

I was disappointed after having such a great experience with the leather couches.

I also got the hard-sell for the stain resistant coating but I was adamant that I didn't want it and the salesman gave up pretty quickly, probably because I was already grumpy about paying $50 to deliever a single chair. Consumer Reports says the stain stuff is a rip-off - it's the same business model as the extended warranties at electronics stores - huge profit machine for the company with little or no actual benefit to the customer.

I also bought leather couches from Rooms to Go Glenwood. I had them replaced four times until they got it right. Even then there was a small wrinkle in the backing from someone pulling on it to hard but I just had a Technician come out and fix that. A lot of trouble but I love the set I bought.

RTG has a poor customer service history.

Go to Roomstore - much better furniture and better service (although that too can be a bit slow, at least at the Durham location).

First set of bedroom furniture I ever got was from Rooms to Go. When the delivery guys arrived, the box was intact but contents were utterly demolished. In other words, someone in the warehouse had clearly packed a damaged product.

When I asked for a replacement, I was notified that I'd ordered the last one in stock. But why did they ship a damaged one

After much haggling I got a 500 buck credit and received a better bedroom set.

I'm amazed that RTG are still in business; in fact seem to be expanding all the time. I'll never set foot in the place again.

Adding my name to the list of people who think RTG has terrible customer service.

Here, I thought it was just me. We did not have the best expereince with the sales rep but our dining room set is awesome. His attitude made me not want to go there ever again!
