Hi,

I am trying to find an apartment and have narrowed my search down to two communities. If you have any knowledge of either, please feel free to share! I am looking for a new/newer smaller community that is fairly quiet. The two communities I have visited are:

1. Grace Point Apartments (off Davis Drive)
2. Alexan at Panther Creek

Thanks for your help!

At least Grace Point has some walkable venues; a couple of restaurants, DQ, Starbucks, Ace Hardware, soon to arrive BLOOM, and the two Cary requisite corner chain drug stores! (See separate thread on Grace Point).

If Alexan is the one near Panther Creek High School (?) then there is nothing much over there yet -maybe in 2 or 3 years. Is that the location?

Yes, I agree about Grace Park. Alexan at Panther Creek is the one across from the high school. I'll be working at Duke University Medical Ctr, do you think the commute will be about the same from either community?

I think they commutes would be pretty similar. Davis Drive used to get backed up a bit north of McCrimmon, but I think they just widened the road and I am not seeing the same kind of morning congestion I used to see in that area. 55 has it's fair share of congestion into adn out of RTP. If you are not on an 8-5 schedule I think both routes will be a piece of cake.

Alexan is going to have I-540 right behind it too and construction is just beginning on that extension so you may face some noise issues, as well as construction routing delays, etc.

I live right off of 55 & Carpenter Fire Station & drive past Grace Park every day... IF it were me, I would definitely pick that over the Alexan. Much more centrally located, a couple of lights from High House - LOADS of stuff there...close to Cary Parkway (my fave La Farm Bakery). And so on...

Thanks so much for your helpful information! I thought that Grace Park was very nice and convenient too. It will most likely be my choice. Thanks again.

If you need further reason check out the Wake County Crime Mapping... Cary Map - Crime Data#

The closest street to Grace Park I could find to use as search data was
"Lake Grove Blvd" (that is the main road adjacent to the complex) , put in "1 Year" and .5 miles to hone in on nearby crimes. You can choose the "Identify" option and hover over the indicated icon to see what kind of crime was committed and the date. Perhaps because it is so new I did not see any crimes reported in Grace Park.

Now use same search option and put in "Alexan Drive", radius, and "1 year" then hit "GO". Several crimes in the apartment complex to include larceny, physical assault, fraud, etc.

The scales tip to Grace Park based on the safety factors - at least historically. Good luck with your choice and new job!
