Cafe Driade in Chapel Hill makes some of the best espresso I've had. I'm comparing them to power pullers like Intelligentsia in Chicago and the late Murky Coffee in DC, and also against what I've had in Italy. Cappuccinos are also perfect. They have a nice selection of beers and wines as well.

In Raleigh, I'll go to Cup-a-Joe or Helios. They are not as consistently good as Driade. Helios is a nice spot for lazy Saturday mornings, especially when it's warm and all the doors are open. Hereghty's, in Raleigh, is a nice spot for coffee and baked goods, which they make in house.

Wake Forest Coffee Company in downtown WF. Laid back atmosphere, accomodating baristas and delicious coffee.

I second the recommendation for Driade -- truly one of the most unique coffee shops I've ever been to. I love bringing a book and spending the afternoon there.

My house with my k-cup coffee maker. I can even brew blends that I buy locally.

The coffee is quite good at Bean Traders in Durham. I believe they have one now in Chapel Hill off Hwy 54 in that development who's name escapes me... Can anyone else think of it?

I do like Green Mountain coffee and that the Caribou is connected (literally) to the Bruegger's in Cary. I wish they were all built like that!

I am in the market for a new coffee machine.
Is this one that uses pods that you can refill
with your own coffee ???
