I am looking for a gym membership in the Apex/Cary area. Does anyone know if any gyms are having any specials? Looking for a no long term contract and cheap monthly payment!

Lifetime Fitness has no contract, but they are on the expensive side for montly payments. IMo worth every penny and then some, but it depends on what you are after. The way I see it though is I saved $250 or whatever on enrollment fees and it makes up the difference of the extra montly cost.

I just gave up my membership to lifetime b/c of the cost. I was paying $80 a month for me and 2 kids and I decided not to take the kids with me anymore b/c they got sick every time I took them! I was tired of the germs. Now, I am looking for something cheap I can go after my husband gets home from work. Doesn't have to be fancy. I did LOVE the atmosphere at lifetime though!

I'm giving Snap Fitness a try in Chapel Hill (looks like they have one in Cary). $34 a month, no contract, open 24/7. Nothing special as far as the gym goes, but I liked the hours and the price. It is empty when I go (before 7 am or after 9 pm...aka, when the kids are asleep).

Smile Snap Fitness in Chapel Hill

I just moved to Chapel Hill and joined Snap Fitness the price was great with no long term commitments. The place is brand new and the equipment is great. It's also never crowded and the 24/7 access in very convenient. Dave B.

I belong to Planet 19 fitness. I pay $15 a month. They are not open 24/7 and they don't provide towels or showers. But they do have tons of treadmills, ellipticals, bicycles, free weights and stationary machines. It's all that I need and it's close to home. I think there are two now in the Raleigh/Cary area.

Can anyone tell me more about Lifetime's family prices? I have a friend who goes there and raves about the yoga classes. My husband would love weights and cardio equipment and I currently pay a ton to do yoga and pilates at a studio. If we could get a place with yoga, pilates, weights, cardio equipment and a pool for a reasonable price it would be worth a drive for us!

I just looked into the Y the other day. For every year that I can remember (the last 2 or 3?), they've had a membership drive in Feb where they take 50% off the initiation fee. Unfortunately, this year they decided not to do that. The Y location on Holly Springs Rd, just south of 1010 (Kraft YMCA), is the closest one to me. Their rates are found here:

I believe Planet Fitness is $10 a month and you can cancel at any time. It is no frills -locker room, weights, machines and cardio. No pool (at least in the location I go to), sauna, etc.
