Here's a thought. Try calling them on the phone to find out.

I did, but just got the usual recorded menu system.

Anyone been out and about today?

Freezing rain/sleet falling in SW Durham now. Definitely be careful out there, everyone. Ice is worse to drive in than just snow. My wife had to work at the hospital today and brought herself an overnight bag just in case.

John
1) I seriously doubt the weatherman was saying "We're going to die".
2) This is a rare event (especially in recent years) so it is not "blown out of proportion", using the local definition of "proportion". The effect of a snowfall of this size to this area is worse than it would be to areas where they get it all the time. Stop comparing this place to wherever you came from before; you're not there anymore. I thought "getting away from all that snow" was a big reason you left, in the first place?
3) Yes, the local weather stations DO go crazy over snow of any sort. I use the "off" button on my TV to alleviate that.

A friend of mine has posted this time-lapse youtube video of snow where he is. I think it's 12 hours or so. Kinda cool! .
