Does anyone have an opinion on Cary's Macgregor West subdivision?

I have lived very close to it for 18 years, and have over those years had several friends who lived there, in my opinion it is a great place to live with the exception that some of the houses are a bit more "old style" than what some people like now days, and of course the "price of admission" is not for everyone...

I agree with above. I like MacGregor too as well. I think it's a nice neighborhood with a great location. Some people don't favor it because of it's price and since it's older it doesn't represent what the newer parts of Cary represent these days. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I like it. MacGregor was one of Cary's first "signature" neighborhoods.

I've lived in MacGregor West for the last 3 years. Was there anything in particular you wondered about?
The Pros:
Walking distance to Lake Pine (jogging, dog walking, kids bicycling)
I feel very safe (which I'm quite paranoid, so that's not easy for me)
Good mix of families (empty nesters, families w/teens & young families)
Good Schools - (apex el, apex middle, apex high)
Mature Landscape (lots of grown trees, well manicured sub)
Easy access to ALOT (downtown raleigh, beaver creek, crossroads, anywhere in cary)

Cons:
No community pool or park (my kids are at the age to enjoy that, but you could join the country club or many go to Lifetime Fitness 5 minutes away)
Lake Pine traffic is increasing & depending where you live you may get a lot of traffic noise from there or off US64.
The houses are aging, so you can expect to remodel unless you find a house where it's already done for you. White cabinets seemed to be the favorite when these homes were built.
Hope this helps
