Peoples we are are all definitely blessed. Coming from Sourthern California we have been welcomed here with open arms and I honestly feel as if I have found my home.

Even with all the changes here, I still love calling Raleigh home. What a great town to live in. Glad you folks like it as well

Nice to see all the positive posts. My husband and I are thinking of relocating to this area but are overwhelmed of where to start. Anyone have any opinion of where the best schooling is for the kids? And one other question.....how close is raleigh to the water? Never been to the area but are planning a trip in the next few months. We'd like to be a short distance from the ocean and we're just trying to gather as much info as possible. Thanks!

The ocean is 2 to 2.5 hours away, depending upon where you live in Raleigh. That will get you to Wrightsville Beach. It takes longer to get to Atlantic Beach and even longer to get to the Outer Banks. Raleigh is in "the heart of Carolina."

Raleigh is part of a county-wide school system (Wake County), and Wake County has good schools. Search the forum, and you'll find plenty of information about the schools.

Get a job here before you move. The unemployment rate is high.

I heart Raleigh as well. It keeps an small town feel while still having a good variety of things to do

Raleigh lover here too. We've been here for 2 1/2 years and I just can't even conceive of leaving here. This is home to us now. We keep falling more in love with Raleigh and the area as time passes.

I have to admit that after 2 years here (downtown is awesome), I'm starting to love it too... Winter weather stinks in comparison to FL, but not having to worry about home invasions and murders help a lot!

Home invasions, murders, machine-gun battles in intersections - well, maybe that last one was just Royal Palm Beach. But yet, we have far fewer things like that here, and for this I am grateful.
