I went for the first time a few months ago and did not find it overrated and I did not leave disappointed. No one in my group of 10 people did either so I would call that assumption incorrect.

I really loved it the first and only time I dined-in there in 2008. I also was able to go there for a company picnic last year and loved it!

It is a fun experience. I have had wonderful steaks there, it is rustic but unique, not a starched white table cloth place! I agree, it is not the least expensive. Let them know it is your first visit!

They do have a kids menu. Thankfully my 11 year old ordered off it and saved us a bundle especially since after eating all the salad, bread, etc, there was no room for her dinner. Definitely worth going to. Great meal (i usually get a prime rib and seafood combo which is enough for more than 2 meals), excellent service but I do agree that it is not the intimate, formal place one might expect for the amount of money being spent there. For that reason, I do not frequent that place. If my bill is going to be more than twice any other restaurant, I want the whole experience- dressed up, quiet, and not a place where th parents bring the kids, not where a loud, crowded boisterous table is celebrating something but dressed and acting like they are at the local pub or TGI Fridays. Just my opinion.

The Angus Barn is a one of a kind steak house, and one should never pass up the opportunity to eat there at least once. Don't hurt yourself on the cheese and crackers

My 16 year old daughter loves their marinated shrimp but she cannot eat the entire dinner so they allow us to order as many of the shrimp as we like. They are HUGE. She usually orders 2 shrimp and fries, which costs about $12.

I realize that everyone has their own personal preferences, however, the restaurant business isn't as easy as some may thing. We see, all the time, restaurants closing after a year. So...considering that I have lived here over 35 years and the AB has been here since before I was, they must be doing something right!

Vicki

First time I went it was outstanding. The past 2 times have been ok, they let you bring your own wine which is a plus. 15 dollar cork fee I believe.

I would believe that most people go there for the atmosphere.

Myself (yeah I know don't kill me) I prefer Texas Roadhouse. Not for the atmosphere but for the steaks and the food. A lot of people are so biased sometime b/c it is a chain but hey it is good food whether you agree or not. Also, a lot of people don't know this but everything all the way to the dressings and crutons are handmade or homemade (whichever fits).
